Our Call to Action
Over 250 shoes, 600 hand-written notes, and 2,800 yards of thread went into bringing this vision together.
The installation is our public call to action for change and support for those experiencing intergenerational trauma caused by Residential Schools. Influenced by Chiharu Shiota, the empty shoes offer a moment of reflection for the lives lost, coupled with the hand-written prayer intentions and messages from our student body. The orange thread confronts the fundamental concerns about life - the value, fragility, and contrasting strength from togetherness as we offer support during the grieving process.
